My
oak handle baskets are hand woven using wet,
high quality reeds, which makes them pliable
for weaving. The finished baskets are then
immersed into a handmade West Virginia Black
Walnut stain bath.
"Baskets
By Helen" uses original designs along
with many traditional Appalachian shapes and
techniques which are both functional and
decorative. Dyed reed, fibers and painted
motifs adorn some of the designs. Visit the
Gallery where you will find a selection of
Americana, Traditional, Miniature and Specialty
hand-woven baskets.
Traditional
baskets include a description of their
function on how they were used through the
ages.
Each basket is signed and dated by the weaver.
